Robert Rauschenberg the “father” pop art. He would take ‘found images‘ and create his art. The art pieces are combined in a relationship. One of his more famous pieces is called 'Retroactive 1', in 1964 which was tribute for JFK after his assassination. The method is by using oil pastel and silkscreen ( silkscreen- a stencil process in which coloring matter is forced onto the material to be printed through the meshes of a silk or organdy screen so prepared as to have pervious printing areas and impervious non printing areas; also : a print made by this process). Rauschenberg created the art because he wanted to see a change in modern art which he did change drastically, the iconic marilyn monroe collage pop art was inspired by Robert Rauschenberg’s style of art.
